Each year I make a rafting trip on a river I have yet to experience. This year I am choosing the Nolichucky, the weekend of 4/18-20.

I've spoken to the outfitter and a few people that have used them have convinced me they are top notch! We'll raft, camp, have a hay ride and good food too!

To get there, it will be a solid 4-5 hour drive. We have the option to raft or use a ducky, which is very fun, especially on a faster moving river.

My question is this - would you be willing to raft BOTH days and pay about $125 (water event only, food and lodging extra)? Or, should I post two events, one for a raft and the second event being a ducky (aka funyak)? Cost isn't much different, $55 for a funyak and $65 for the raft.

Thoughts?

So, will the $125 be rafting Sat and Sun?

Ah, I'm interpreting the post as an extra $55-65 to run the river a 2nd day.

However, he still can't gauruntee us that funyaks will be available...

Question about that...how much leg room in those; beyond a few pictures of different types of funyaks (there is a wide variety) I haven't been able to find any specifications.

Can you get that detail from the outfitter... I might be willing to try it if I knew I wouldn't be resting my chin on my knees the whole day!

If we're going to drive the distance...might as make the most of it.

I've no intention of driving straight home Sunday morning regardless.

Can you post or attach a link to the Outfitter we'll be using... or pinpoint the location?

Said you were going to do that last week...

..Have arranged that Friday off and I'm curious what mischeif I can find if I head up early... would help to know where I need to be that night though.

Sooner the better!

Hi there,
I'm assuming the outfitter is Cherokee Adventures, because the below website talks about the bunkhouses. Patrick mentions the exact wording in his trip description. Wink

You are correct; he forwarded the link to me earlier in the week. Still haven't called them yet to see if there's leg room or not.

Erwin is the closest town to the Outfitter.

Besides you and I- Michelle...I haven't seen much interest in what to do Sunday. Plenty to chose from...

For now, checking out a couple good hikes to do Friday while I wait for the rest of you- plenty of hills to climb.

I might just be up for just heading back because of school work.

Its ok, I'm driving myself.

Even if all want to come home; I don't see any reason why I can't stay up there and do something else on my own. I'm sure the outfitter will accomodate me if the they can.

As I understand the AOC rules and the Event as written, it's Officially over after breakfast Sunday morning.

After that anything goes~ Correct?

Correct, but if we drive 4-5 hours, may as well do something local before heading home!

I don't think the chances are good we will come to a consensus in the forums.

I could perhaps bring 1-2 back if they want to do something else- of those that didn't drive themselves.

Candidly, I'm haven't made firm plans for Sunday yet- just collecting a few options; long range forcast looks good though- nice weather.

Patrick,
Will you please send me the directions, so I can determine if I'm driving or carpooling?

Thanks,
Michelle
