nazca and titicaca

Postby cristyagogo on Thu Feb 21, 2008 8:42 am

The way my flights are working out I really think I will be doing the Nazca lines before the hike. I have to stay in Lima overnight anyways on the way in, so it just makes more sense.

Things to do after Inca Trail

Postby Hilke on Tue Mar 11, 2008 3:36 pm

I'm thinking of doing the following after week 2 of the Inca Trail:

Nasca Lines Overlight
http://www.peruadventurestours.com/en/i ... light.html

Sandboard & Dune Buggy (close to Nasca Lines)
http://www.peruadventurestours.com/en/i ... buggy.html

Nasca Adventure Tour (Sandboard, 4x4, marine reserve)
http://www.peruadventurestours.com/en/i ... _tour.html

Let me know if anyone is interested in this.

Is anyone interested in traveling together ~ Sharing room?

Postby Lucy on Fri Mar 14, 2008 10:19 am

I called Victor Aller at the Royal Inka Hotel in Cuzco.
I asked him if we could get the same rates $70 per room ($35/person) for the 18th and 19th (as well as the 20th and 24th) and he agreed.

Below is a flight plan I had in mind (after trying to find the least expensive way to travel).
This plan would cost $800.34 total (from Atlanta to Cuzco). The only real bad thing is that we have to kill some time in Lima on the way back.
If we shared a room for the 18th, 19th, 20th, and 24th, it would cost us $140 per person (plus taxes).
Is anyone interested in traveling together and/or sharing a room?

DEFINITELY do the Sacred Valley. That was really great. The rafting was a lot of fun too even though the rapids were mostly very small at that time of year.

I called Victor today and asked him to set up me and Susan's hotels for Cusco and Puno and the Lake Titcaca tour. He said the 6 nights at the Cusco hotel and 2 nights at the Puno hotel, Lake Titicaca tour, and bus rides will be a total of $950. We can pay half now, $475, and then the other half one month before the trip. The websites to the hotels are below. Victor said once we pay the deposit he will email us the confirmation with details of each day.

general peru info

Postby cristyagogo on Sun Mar 23, 2008 10:07 pm

I've been perusing the Lonely Planet online guide and found it very helpful and interesting. There are also additional forums from travelers. The website address for Peru is:
http://www.lonelyplanet.com/worldguide/peru

An additional resource for Lake Titicaca tours is:
http://www.titicacaperu.com

The website is a bit hokey but informative and shows options for tours if you are interested in island family stays.
