do want the discussion limited to volunteers only, or did oyu want general membership to have input as well (since there were non-leaders on the last trip)?

if you want anybody to be able to comment, the i'll move it to a different area of the site. otherwise i'll leave it here.
eventually there will be something witty here, but, for now, just pretend that one of the most clever and/or amusing things you've ever read is written here instead of this.

Yes, I would like this forum to be available to the general membership.
Thank you.

So when I go to the main forum page there should be an Inca Trail subject post? Not under AOC events?

Nope, this is where we discuss the Peru trip.
Just to get it rolling, I missed the meeting Monday but I wanted to know what people were thinking about doing side trips. I personally want to see and do as much as I possibly can while I am down there. Who else is and where are you thinking of going?

It was a successful meeting last night. We missed you! We discussed quite a bit. Maybe somebody could come up with meeting minutes for it…hehe. I think Susan and I will pretty much do the same thing. We're going to stick together. I'm interested in the Sacred Valley Tour, the City Tour, obviously the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu, and possibly Lake Titicaca. Look into those and tell me what you think. Also, Susan and I will probably try to get the same flights there and back.

The Sacred Valley tour was awesome. I definitely recommend doing that!

I am def up for the sacred valley tour. I also really liked the idea of seeing the Nazca lines. Did anyone do that last year? Anyone up for it this time around?

To see the Nazca lines I would plan on two nights in Lima plus booking a day long tour. You can look it up but I think these tours were fairly expensive. I'm pretty sure they do not go out of Cusco.

You can book a half-day tour featuring a flight over the Nazca Lines. Tours depart from Lima's airport.

I wish I'd had time to do that while I was there - The Nazca iconography is everywhere you turn. I sort of feel like I missed out!:)

nazca

Postby cristyagogo on Thu Jan 31, 2008 9:12 am

I am totally interested in going to the Nazca lines. I found a day trip from Lima for 250 a person if two people go. There is also a 3 day trip from Lima that goes to a galapagos type place and another nature area on the way for 350 a person if two people go. If anyone wants to go in on these with me, let me know. I would really like to arrange my trip to go to Nazca for one day on the Thursday before the hike (I'm on the second hike).

Victor from Royal Inca can help in booking a hotel in Lima. I had him book two nights for me and everything went smooth.

You can do a day or 1/2 day of Lima fairly cheap. At the hotel I was staying at, they arranged a 1/2 day tour of the city for $25. I ended up being the only person on the tour so I had private tour with driver and guide. So I gave them a real big tip.

I think you could arrange a Nazca lines tour through the hotel too. If this is what you really want to do, ask Victor about this. He is very helpful.

Christy - Both those sound awesome! I'd love to get more info on them. I will probably never get back to Peru, so I really want to do everything I can while I am there. I am also on the second trip. I don't think I can do it before the Inca Trail, but I can stay a few days after.
