Daylight savings time (DST) is around the corner!

DST begins on March 9, 2008 at 2:00am and ends on November 2, 2008 at 2:00am

I know many of you hike at Kennesaw Mtn after work, so wanted to give you heads up on park hours.

Currently, the park hours are 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM. The rangers at the Visitor Center close the gates at 8:00 PM. It's getting darker earlier, so make sure you bring your headlamp or a flashlight if you happen to be hiking on or around the mountain.

On Nov. 2nd, the park hours for Kennesaw Mtn. will change. Park hours will be from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. The rangers at visitor center parking area will close the gates at 6:00 PM so make sure if you go hiking/walking or whatever over there, the gates will close at 6pm.

Since the park will close earlier (6 PM) because of DST, they still don't like people hiking/walking in the park after hours. Yes, people still do it and will park on the main road, but again it's not wise to be there after closing time and is not appreciated by park rangers.

Also, if you are hiking/walking, please never hike alone. It's just not safe and there is always someone willing to go with you.
