GPS track: Bartram trail to Jones knob

In another thread someone mentioned exchanging GPS tracks. I think this sounds like a good way to find a new hike or at least a different twist on a common one. If anyone would like the actual track send me an email.

This one is of the Bartram trail from the Buckeye Branch trailhead to Jones Knob. I also did a side trip up Whiterock and Fishhawk mountain on the way back. The trail starts just across the NC border near Otto. It is about a 2 hour drive from Lawrenceville.

The distance is 18.5 miles with about 3000 feet of elevation gain but the trail is level so it is easier than it sounds. If you go up to the top of Fishhawk mountain and back the distance is about 11.5 miles. Since it is an in and out you can turn around whenever you want.

There is a nice overlook at Jones knob about 100 feet south of the peak.

Elevation profile of hike to Jones knob. This was the first time I used my new GPS and track came up a couple of miles short of the real distance:

ha, I love posts like this....trail geeks unite. :D

But great stuff and very interesting. I like having a general idea of what to expect when I go on a hike and the elevation profiles are very informative.
